"I have been meaning to email you. We are doing really really well. (Our son's) behavior is basically transformed. His teacher reports that she has not seen him hit or roar (etc) at other kids in quite some time. His recent visits and playdates have gone so well. None of the antagonizing that we had been seeing before. I know there can be many factors at play but I really feel that it's been the work we did with you (and things we are continuing to do on your recommendation) that has made all the difference." H.W. Harrisonburg, VA
"The visit with Kate was transformative for my 3yo daughter. She now laughs more freely, from only a few times a week to now many times a week - and often daily! It is truly a result of our work together with Kate. And for my then 2mo son, Kate was able to help his physical discomfort in just one visit - his rigidity and discomfort were much improved. Thank goodness for Kate! " -- A. S. Charlottesville, VA
"Hey Friend, I love your new business model, FamilyCare VA program - brilliant! I briefly checked out the program and this is exactly what people need. ....and your doing it pre-conception. Amazing! Kate, I am always inspired by what you are doing and your perseverance in finding what works to serve using your amazing superpowers of empathy, attunement, a persistent willingness to continually learn, and generosity! " -- K.W. Alabama
"Four years ago I had a prenatal session with you right on the winter solstice which I believe helped me give birth in January much more calmly than I would have without that and other sessions with you. Thank you so much! I will always think back on that time, how it cultivated calm, quiet, and openness for me." -- Amy in Charlottesville, VA.
"When thinking about how you helped us with the birth trauma, I think one of the best things you did with me, is stop and breathe with me and affirm how hard each aspect of my story must have been. To have someone reaffirm this difficulty with me, was just so life-changing. It made me feel seen and heard and valued, and honestly like I was not crazy and that what we went through really was traumatic. It helped me to walk out of denial and have the strength to do the repair work." -- Kristy Nicolette in Charlottesville, VA
"As the course comes to a close tonight, I just wanted to take a moment to send you an email to let you know how much I've enjoyed the course, and learning from you. I've had an absolutely wonderful experience! The material is fascinating, and you hold such a safe and warm space for us to come together and learn. I have been so inspired, and also have noticed the work influencing my practice and thinking since day 1. -- Kim T. in Maryland
"Cosette was born four months early at the end of September 2019. She was intubated until November 7 and had a feeding tube down her throat until the start of January and then in her nose for the last weeks that she was in the hospital. She pulled her breathing tube out herself in October and her feeding tube was replaced weekly. She came home on January 28, one week after her due date. She spent 121 days in the NICU. I was there every day, never missed one, and was able to start breastfeeding in December. She enjoyed breastfeeding more than drinking from a bottle, but she wasn't able to get all of the nutrients she needed so she had to learn bottle feeding before being discharged. This was difficult for her because we would get tired. Once home, bottle feeding was still challenging; often she wouldn't take bottles from me, only my husband. Nipple confusion happened but a different style bottle helped. At around four months corrected age, Cosette started to fight the bottle in a new way. She would thrash and turn her head from side to side away from the bottle and push it with her hands. She loves putting things in her mouth but I felt that drinking was in some way scary to her and reminded her of tubes down her throat. I set up a meeting with Kate. Kate encouraged me to tell Cosette that I notice when it's time to eat that she gets very uncomfortable and resists it. Cosette began talking to me in loud, forceful bursts. She put her hands out but did not push me away. She had a toy ball near her and she started gnawing at it, biting it. I told her that I was sorry her first months were spent at the hospital and that I didn't want that for her. I said I think sometimes when it's time to eat she has memories of tubes that hurt. I told her they're just memories and she's safe now and here with me and her dad. Cosette talked a lot through this, and Kate coached me to narrate her movements. After about ten minutes of this she settled. An hour later when it was time to eat, I presented Cosette with a bottle. She put her hands around it and pushed it away and talked at it making upset faces. I narrated her movements and talked to her and let her talk to me. After about ten minutes she held onto the bottle and drank it fully. She did the same thing this morning. With her second bottle today, I put a warmed bean bag eye pillow on her stork's bite and she didn't resist the bottle hardly at all and just drank it while holding it. I think Cosette needed to be able to fight the bottle and be heard and yet we needed her to eat so I felt stuck about what to do. I am optimistic that we are headed toward her moving that urge to fight out of her body.
"I brought you a baby with failure to thrive who was probably headed toward a feeding tube. She had dropped to the 3rd percentile in weight and was a tense little person whom I didn't seem able to soothe. You helped her open up. She has fat rolls now and she giggles. She can turn her head both directions and isn't drawn up into a little ball. She can nurse well enough to grow and she trusts me. I think what you do is incredible and fascinating and really, really valuable. Thank you for everything!" ~ Bethany Rose, Stanton
"Kate has truly changed our lives. My 9 week old daughter was a "high needs" baby; constantly crying and fussing, never comfortable and happy, and needing to be held and bounced all the time. We saw Kate for bodywork to help with my daughter's torticollis and nursing problems as a result of revised tongue and lip tie, in addition to her perpetual unhappy state. Kate saw how uncomfortable my daughter was and how desperate I was for help, and she met us with calm confidence that with daily sessions things would improve. At first during our sessions my daughter screamed and fussed through the entire hour, but Kate was very respectful of my baby and never pushed too hard. She was also incredibly patient with the fact that we couldn't always get in all of the treatment in one session. As the days went on, I was noticing that my baby was smiling. Happy. Allowing me to put her down for a few minutes. Sleeping soundly and comfortably. And, best of all, nursing had improved immensely and my daughter can more easily suck and transfer milk. It has been an incredible transformation in only a weeks time. Thank you, Kate, for your wisdom and your patience and your love of helping babies and mamas. We are so grateful for you." -- Alissa Hansen, Charlottesville

"Thank you for all the great instruction and information. It has been terrific! Your classes were a huge blessing to me right after I came home from the hospital because I felt overwhelmed and needed some place to go and learn more about my sweet Sadie. Reading is wonderful but in person hands on instruction can't be beat. I have so loved your classes and your gracious and supportive wisdom!"--S.G., Mom in Charlottesville, VA
"Kate is prolific and veracious in the pursuit and sharing of her experience and knowledge. What she provides in information and support comes second to her empathetic and focused passion to help people heal & grow. When looking for cutting edge info/technique and skill, look no further. You've found it." M.E., Ohio
"As a former massage therapist, myself, I'm very particular in my choices for bodywork practitioners. Kate has innate skills for massage, has a healing touch and is present and connected during her sessions. I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of bodywork." - M.B, Charlottesville, VA
"There are three in-depth training programs (like graduate school) at the leading edge of the therapeutic bodywork profession: BCST, SE, and PPN. Kate White has completed each one, and many other stand-alone classes. This makes her a rare find among bodyworkers, and an incredible asset to her community. If you live near her and your baby, family or inner being needs attention, go see Kate. She is passionate about changing the face of healthcare, especially birthing and relating to infants, and is continually expanding her tool chest, in the realm of theory as well as practice. “We loved working with Kate. She has a wonderful, intuitive way with children and babies, and Corbin always seemed to enjoy his cranio-sacral therapy sessions and was relaxed and happy afterwards. I wish that all babies and mothers could benefit from the therapies that Kate has to offer.” S.R. – mom in Charlottseville, VA
“I went to Kate for help when my four month old daughter, Evie, started crying at the breast for no apparent reason. It was miserable to not be able to console her when I could tell she was in pain. I emailed Kate one night after this had been going on for about a week; Kate saw us the very next morning. She worked with Evie and started massaging her neck and hips. She found a tight spot above Evie’s right hip and on the right side of Evie’s neck. Evie was happily playing while Kate massaged her, but when Kate got to those spots, Evie became quite still and totally relaxed. It was as if Kate had hit just where Evie had been trying to tell me she needed help. Kate showed me how to massage those spots. By the next day, Evie completely stopped fussing or crying at the breast and went back to being a happy– and hungry– little baby!! I am so, so grateful to Kate and her help. She saved Evie’s and my breastfeeding relationship and that is absolutely priceless.” L.S. Mom in Charlottesville, VA
“My daughter, Kate, was diagnosed with torticollis as a newborn, and we were told that we would need to do painful daily stretches to avoid major problems in the future. My baby was also suffering from some reflux and difficulty latching on one side. I could tell the torticollis was causing my daughter a lot of discomfort and I didn’t feel completely comfortable with a recommended course of treatment that seemed to cause her even more discomfort. So, I was relieved when many trusted friends recommended that I take her to Belvedere Healing Arts to See Kate White. Kate’s immense knowledge and gentle ways put me and my daughter at ease, and I could see the difference in my baby after every session. My pediatrician was somewhat surprised when we returned a couple of months later with no visible head/neck issues and did not require any physical therapy. I am glad that I listened to my instincts and chose a gentler, if less conventional treatment, which I believe was incredibly effective. I highly recommend Belevedere Healing Arts and Kate White to other parents. ” R.C. in Charlottesville
“I just wanted to thank you for everything. You were kind and gentle and understanding, and played a huge role in our recovery. I can’t thank you enough. I still think of our visits all the time. Focusing on the moment I could finally let labor happen, and the day I finally got to hold my baby in my arms, yes, you can heal trauma if you have good support. Thank you for all you do for our community. You are such wealth of knowledge. I can continue to refer to you now with a wonderful experience of my own.” — A.S., birth education professional in Charlottesville, VA.
“I first went to see Kate for a massage when I was 7 months pregnant. She came highly recommended from my colleagues who said she had magic hands. The massage was wonderful, helping me to relax and find relief from enduring pelvic pain. But perhaps more importantly, Kate helped me find renewed respect for my baby-growing body. I’d started to feel bloated, creaky, and especially heavy. By listening intently and offering gentle feedback, Kate reminded me how miraculous it was that I was creating another human. She helped empower me as a woman. I left feeling better all over – inside and out! Kate came to our house to massage me a few weeks after our daughter was born. As before, Kate helped my tired and overtaxed body find relief. She also gave me helpful pointers about soothing, trusting, and nurturing our baby. It became clear that Kate’s gifts were far more abundant than just her hands. My husband, my baby, and I all went to see Kate several times over the course of the next few months. When our daughter was about three months old, she became inconsolable every night. As first-time parents, my husband and I were at a loss and feeling overwhelmed. Kate assessed my baby, did some craniosacral work on her, and then led us through an attachment exercise. She worked with all of us – the whole family – as a cohesive unit, helping us understand how our emotions and nervous systems interact to create certain energy states. My baby remained colicky and sleep-averse for a few months, but Kate gave us techniques to use to make her feel safe and loved. She also helped us feel more confident as parents. Kate taught us how to trust ourselves and our instincts, and she showed us how to talk and listen to my baby. I still see Kate for massage and craniosacral therapy. She continues to help me remember to love and honor my body and my family. In a face-paced, consumer-driven world, Kate is my anchor to what really matters.” — H.H. Charlottesville, VA
“I started going to Kate for massage work during my second trimester. I had heard she was really talented and was hoping she could help with the typical aches and pains of pregnancy. During our first session, she quickly identified some tight and knotted places in my back and neck and asked if I had been suffering from any headaches. Indeed, I had. She was even able to pinpoint where they had been occurring without me ever telling her. After a few sessions with her, my terrible headaches disappeared and I never had trouble with them again. In addition to her exceptional bodywork, she also supported me in an emotional way. She gave me a list of affirmations to say each day and showed me how to talk to my baby in utero. The work really helped me bond with the baby after a tough first trimester. – L.G., Charlottesville, VA
“I sustained a major neck is injury, tearing all the ligaments of my cervical spine in 2007. I tried for many years to locate a massage therapist that could work in tandem with my osteopathic doctor. There is a big difference in the way that Kate works. Her approach is holistic and encompasses an incredible realm of skills. She also has an amazing intuition that allows her to find not one or two of those spots that “hurt good”, she finds them all. My doctor notes a vast improvement everytime I see him. Kate is enormously generous with her energy and as a natural healer, Kate not only treats, she heals. My quality of life has greatly improved since I met Kate.” — K.L., Charlottesville, VA
“I went to see Kate for the first time around 30 weeks pregnant with twins for a prenatal massage and bodywork session which was wonderful. In the process of my session we determined that the babies were both squished into my right side – one was almost centered and the other as far to the right as possible – and that might have been a contributing factor to pain I was experiencing in my right hip. Towards the end of my session Kate started talking to my babies and told them that if they would shift their position over to my left they would have more room and mommy would feel better too. I felt them moving in response to her voice as soon as she started talking to them! She then showed me how to use my hands on my belly to guide them in moving over to the left, first the one in the center then the one that was way over on my right. I could tell that the baby in the middle moved right over into the empty space on the left but the baby on the right was a little slower and didn’t noticeably move over immediately. However, by the time I went to bed that night I could tell that each baby was centered perfectly on either side of my belly button! And they are still there now a little over a week later! It’s been much more comfortable for all of us and I am very grateful to Kate for showing me how much I can communicate with my babies even now while they are in my belly to the extent of helping them move to a position that is ideal for us all.” – Mom of twins in Charlottesville, VA

"Hi Kate. I just wanted to share about the woman I consulted with you about. Our consult totally turned things around - I was excited to see her each time we met, we implemented lots of interventions around connection with her baby, she and her husband started doing HeartMath with one of my supervisees as well. She is now at 38 WEEKS and counting! We continue to marvel at the amazing resilience of her body after so many years of feeling let down by it. She has also advocated strongly for a nonintervention birth and feels confident that her doctor is listening and will do her best to help that to happen. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and I won’t hesitate to reach out in the future." C.L. Practitioner in Minnesota, USA
"Just wanted to thank you for the time you give to me and others as a mentor. I find your mentor sessions really helpful whether I have a question, an idea or I’m feeling stuck and would like some direction, to the times when I still join despite having nothing specific to raise, I gain heaps from connecting with others on the call, hearing their stories, where they are in the world, what’s happening for them and the work they are doing.
