an exploration in early life patterns

September 12 -17 (Wednesday evening through Sunday afternoon)

Charlottesville, VA or Washington, DC

This workshop is a small group process where participants can learn about early patterns from the prenatal period, birth related or related to early attachment and how they can be repatterned if there was difficulty. Overwhelming experiences from this time can still be prevalent in our lives today. The workshop lasts 4 days and involves only 7 participants. Each participant has a 1.5 to 2.5 hour session facilitated by Myrna Martin, an expert in healing from early trauma, to explore her/his own physical and emotional patterns from prenatal, birth or early origin. Each session is followed by a sharing of group members, integration and discussion. Participants heal and repattern early trauma and then bring this healing to their current primary relationships and life. Not all sessions involve prenatal/birth/attachment themes. All sessions are unique and participants also do important work from other periods of their life. Their intention for the workshop is the guiding theme for their session.
A participant recently said this about this “surround” approach: “A process workshop can move your healing process light years ahead. Your participation in the surround can be nearly as powerful and transformative as your own individual work.”

Fees: $750 ($700 if paid in full 1 month prior to workshop). $200 to hold your place in the workshop needs to be sent to Kate White, 658 Tyree Lane, Charlottesville, VA 22901.

Here are methods I am trained in: Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy * Myofascial Release * Trigger Point Therapy * Medical Massage * Swedish Massage * Deep Tissue Massage * Pre- and Perinatal Massage * Infant Massage * Hot Stone Therapy * Energy Medicine * Essential Oils * Plant Medicine * Recovery from Birth * Working with Babies, Children and Their Families * Prenatal Birth and Attachment Therapy * Lactation Counseling (CLC) * Somatic Experiencing.

Kate White is a craniosacral and massage therapist, prenatal and early childhood educator. All her classes arise out of her work as a somatic therapist, where she is passionate about the brain and mind-body medicine. She is a mother of two children, holds a BA and MA in Communication, and is a Registered Craniosacral Therapist in the Biodynamic Craniosacral method. Her work combines somatic therapy with brain development to help give families with babies and small children the best possible start. Her work is a translation of some of the research on how parents are with their children affects neural pathways and perception.

“I got my start as a storyteller. As a young woman, I ended up working in Africa on a variety of projects. In West Africa, I fell in love with the notion of “griots” or community storytellers. What started with storytelling, street theatre and the zeal to live and work in Africa, ended with a lifelong passion for helping women and babies.

My career as an international professional spanned over a decade, with consultancies, fellowships, and experiences in improving maternal and child health services in Africa. When I returned to the United States in 1993, I became a massage therapist and began immediately working with women during pregnancy. My career as a bodyworker includes many different modalities. In 1999, I became a craniosacral therapist, when, to my surprise, my clients began to remember their births. I have been involved with pre and perinatal education ever since. As a professional, therapists like myself are part of a vanguard of therapists working with interdisciplinary fields of practice: My work combines elements of neuroscience, somatic therapy, emotional processing, obstetrics, embryology, and pre and perinatal psychology.

In 2002, I moved to Vermont where I built a healing arts center dedicated to pre and perinatal health. Since I began my journey integrating all that I know into one therapeutic educational package, I have amassed hundreds of hours of education, practice and instruction that include the prenatal period, birthing education and supporting women postpartum. in 2008, I moved to Charlottesville, VA where I now make my home. When I look back, I realize I have been on this path since I was 20 years old, and I am still, a storyteller.”
